When walking into a supermarket we often don't realize as consumers how purchasing one product can have such an impact on the world that we live in. We don't understnad that a certian bag of coffee could very possibly bring that starving child in Nicaragua a plate of rice to satisfy his craving stomach. We as consumers have the opportunity to decide which companies we want to support. We can impact the lives of the farms and plantation workers producing and providing us with our cup of breakfast blend every morning. If you had the chance to change the world with a different brand, wouldn't you? You could possibly be saving someone's life

The definition of Fair Trade is a trading partnership centered around an open dialogue with respect. The system contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers. The difference between our current conventional market and the Fair Trade System is based around several components. When we look at the value chain we are given an economic outline for the setup of this method. The value chain is a diagram that describes the production, marking, and delivery lines from the producer to the final consumer. The Fair Trade System chain is composed of close relationships and lasting cooperative connections. There is a balance of respect and open conversation between the producers (small scale farmers) and the cooperatives who abide by guidelines that were established to remove the exploitation of the middlemen that we have now.
